"The Perfect Greek Island"

Your Painting Tuition on Alonissos'
As featured in Sunvil Specialist Greece
Welcoming complete beginners or more skilled artists, I will share with you my own style and painting techniques, whilst helping you to develop and improve your own drawing and the application of watercolour paint. You will achieve in a relatively short time, results you will be more than satisfied with. Having first taught painting on the island over 25 years ago and now having my own house and studio there, I have a great affinity with Alonissos and will enjoy sharing my knowledge and experiences of the island with you during your holiday.

Tuition normally starts on Sunday as most guests arrive on the island sometime during Friday and prefer to have a day to settle in . We will start at my home and studio near Patitiri. I will give a demonstration of my own painting style, and we will go through your requirements and expectations for the coming week.
During this first session non-painting partners can take a short guided walk with my wife Jane returning to Carob Tree house in time for a complimentary lunch.

Afternoons are your own to either continue painting, relax, or explore and become bewitched by this beautiful island. Non-painting partners will find plenty to do including scuba diving, homeopathy, alexander technique classes, walking trails, yoga and massage. During the cooler months (normally May and September) Chris's wife Jane can provide a guided walk or two for non-painting partners. The walks are organised to tie in with painting classes so that painters and their partners meet up in time for lunch, usually at one of the beach tavernas. Boat trips are available to explore the picturesque town and churches of the neighbouring island Skopelos.

The rest of the week's itinerary is flexible endeavouring to explore as much of the island as possible whilst accommodating the differing painting styles of the group. We will probably spend at least one morning exploring the picturesque old town of Alonissos with its picture postcard windows, doorways and alleyways, then maybe a working harbour, spectacular clifftops or one of the many idyllic bays with seafront tavernas.

Cost of Tuition
Course consists of 5 morning sessions (10am - 1.30pm) £195 per person
Additional sessions cost £40 each
Discounts can apply to group bookings of 4 or more

Learn to paint and stay in the artist's studio apartment at Carob Tree House. An idyllic location for (1 - 2 persons only) set in the pine forest only a short walk from the main harbour of Patitiri

Art Courses on Alonissos

Alonissos, third in line after Skiathos and Skopelos (Mamma Mia fame!) is the quietest inhabited island in the Northern Sporades group. It offers many small deserted beaches with crystal clear waters, sleepy harbours with colourful fishing boats, and a rugged natural landscape with spectacular views. The island is a perfect location for a painting holiday. Although certainly not flat - there is tremendous variety of scenery from mountainous wooded slopes, a hilltop village, unspoilt ancient houses, wonderful seascape vistas, traditional working harbours and wildflower and fauna to make you want to return again and again.

To book email info@chrishughesart.com
Usual arrival/departure day is Friday with tuition normally commencing on the Sunday

How to book your painting holiday

I offer my Alonissos painting course from May to early October. Courses can sometimes be 1 person or a maximum of 6, this works for me and hopefully suits you!

Steps to book your painting holiday:-

A bit about me.....

I left Swansea University in the 1970's to train as a ceramic artist, I then turned freelance in 1980 after becoming one of the leading painters at Royal Worcester. Since then my watercolours, oils and ceramics have sold to galleries and collectors in the UK, Japan, USA, Australia, the Middle East and Europe.
Together with my wife Jane, I am now lucky enough to spend the summer months painting and holding watercolour painting courses from our house on the Greek Island of Alonissos. Whilst there I work in watercolour and oils as I attempt to capture the wonderful colours and light of the Aegean.
We return each Autumn to our UK home to catch up with family and friends and of course continue painting.
