The first mornings tuition is normally Sunday as most guests arrive on the island sometime during Friday, and prefer to have a day to settle in . We will start at my home and studio near Patitiri, where we can go through ideas for the week ahead. I will give a demonstration of my own painting style and discuss your requirements for the following week. Non-painting partners are invited to take a short guided walk with my wife Jane during this session returning to enjoy a leisurely lunch at Carob Tree House, which is provided free of charge on the first day.

The rest of the week's itinerary is flexible but we will endeavour to explore as much of the island as possible, to accommodate differing painting styles. We will probably spend at least one morning exploring the picturesque old town of Alonissos with its picture postcard windows, doorways and alleyways, then maybe a working harbour, spectacular cliffs tops or one of the many idyllic bays with seafront tavernas.

With approximately 3 and a half hours per day allocated to tuition time you have the rest of the day to continue painting or you can relax, explore and become bewitched by this beautiful island. Non-painting partners will find plenty to do including Scuba Diving, Homeopathy, Alexander Technique, Walking Trails, Yoga and Massage. During the cooler months (normally May and September) Chris's wife Jane can provide a guided walk or two for non-painting partners. The walks are organised to tie in with painting classes so that painters and walkers meet up in time for lunch, usually at one of the beach tavernas. Boat trips are available to explore the picturesque town and churches of the neighbouring island Skopelos.

About AlonissosAlonissos, third in line after Skiathos and Skopelos (Mamma Mia fame!) is the quietest inhabited island in the Norther Sporades group. It offers many small quiet beaches with crystal clear waters, sleepy harbours with colourful fishing boats, and a rugged natural landscape with spectacular views. The island is a perfect location for a painting holiday. Although certainly not flat - there is tremendous variety of scenery from mountainous wooded slopes, a hilltop village, unspoilt ancient houses, wonderful seascape vistas, traditional working harbours and wildflower and fauna to make you want to return again and again.

A bit about me.....
I left Swansea University in the 1970's to train as a ceramic artist, I then turned freelance in 1980 after becoming one of the leading painters at Royal Worcester. Since then my watercolours, oils and ceramics have sold to galleries and collectors in the UK, Japan, USA, Australia, the Middle East and Europe.
Together with my wife Jane, I am now lucky enough to spend the summer months painting and holding watercolour painting courses from our house on the Greek Island of Alonissos. Whilst there I work in watercolour and oils as I attempt to capture the wonderful colours and light of the Aegean.
We return each Autumn to our UK home to catch up with family and friends and of course continue painting.

Finally a testimonial from the 2008 season....
" Alonissos is the most perfect place to relax and paint. Chris teaches his technique with patience, humour and generosity; he gave me the confidence to develop a style of painting I can enjoy and develop." Diana
